A California Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving this year we traveled to Northern California to visit Lindsey, Matt & our beautiful new niece Sloane.  GMa & Papa Ship  joined us from Florida making it a complete Shiplett/Hjermstad family affair.  We have so much for be thankful for this year, including being able to spend so much time with family!  Connor is getting pretty good at traveling through airports & on planes, but we still have to work on the sleeping in a hotel room.  The weather was perfect fall weather & the falling leaves were absolutely beautiful.  We enjoyed a yummy Thanksgiving Dinner, lots & lots of football, a few walks around the beautiful city of Danville & loving on the babies.  I also got a few opportunities to work on my photography skills with my new Canon 40D camera.  An early Christmas present thanks to the wonderful Carrie Terrones & her need to upgrade her camera.  I am still very much a beginner, but I am trying!  Below are some fun photos of the weekend....

I definitely think they have some similar Shiplett features!

Rice Cereal - Connor Is Just Not So Sure

After Connor's 4-month check-up and getting the okay from his doctor, we finally decided to try some of the rice cereal that everyone keeps talking about.  The photos really tell more about how it is going than I can really say....Connor is just not so sure about all this!

At the end there was definitely more rice cereal out than in....but like everything else I am sure practice makes perfect...tomorrow we will try again :)

Connor Is 4 Months!

I truly can’t believe Connor is 4 months old, really it feels like yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital!  Connor now weighs in at 16 lbs. & 26 inches tall, my big little bug J  and growing by the second.  He is in the 75th percentile for height & weight!  Our pediatrician was very impressed with Connor at his 4-month check-up, he is tracking great (he looks where you point), grabs at everything he can reach & is sitting up on his own (with a pillow for cushion when he tips over of course), which is more like a 6-month milestone!  He is all smiles, laughs, talks (not that we can understand) and loves to play in his jumper & exersaucer.  We are still working on the rolling over; Connor just prefers to be up & looking at the world and is not all that concerned about moving around, but he is getting closer & closer….I have no doubt we will be there by 5 months.  I am amazed everyday about how much Connor is changing & learning….I just try to take in every moment – I love seeing the little man he is becoming.  He is the best little bug in the world!!

Connor's 1st Halloween

What a great Halloween weekend we had here at Casa Shiplett!  The festivities started on Thursday night with a visit to the pumpkin patch to pick out Connor's first pumpkin.  We were lucky enough to share the fun with GMa & Papa Shiplett, who were visiting us on their way back to Florida after a visit with Aunt Lulu, Uncle Matt & their newest addition Cousin Sloane in California.  It was a crisp cool evening & it actually felt like fall!  Connor had a great time trying to eat the hay (that's what I get for trying to get a cute picture with the pumpkins) and Blair was super excited to purchase my yearly bale of hay to decorate with.

Papa Shiplett & Connor...can you tell where Connor gets those Shiplett good looks?

Can you tell Blair looks excited? Pictures, Pictures, Pictures!

I love his Boo butt!

Connor is getting really good at sitting by himself!!  Now to work on smiling for the camera!

On Sunday we had lots of fun carving the pumpkins.  It was another family affair, as my parents joined us from Phoenix for the weekend, and Aunt Rachael & Luke stopped by for a visit.  It was a perfect fall Sunday...football, pumpkins & family!

A big thanks to Mari & Don Burtnyk for Connor's adorable Halloween outfit!!

One good looking family :)

Connor loved watching us make a mess!

The finished carvings - a happy family of pumpkins!!  Thank you Luke for carving Connor's name pumpkin, how you did that I still do not know, and thank you to my wonderful husband who buys me a bale of hay every year to display the pumpkins on!!

All the fun wrapped up on Monday with some trick-or-treating with our great friends, the Terrones Family & Merrill Family, out in Anthem at their annual Halloween block party.  They close the street, bring in a bouncy house, hay ride & all the families on the street set up for some major trick or treating!  Connor did not do much actual trick-or-treating but he did manage to stay in his costume for about 30 minutes before all the fun tuckered the little dinosaur out!

Ready or not, here we come!

I mean could he be any cuter if he tried!

Grandma Bordwell could not let Connor be the only one dressed up - loved the race car outfit!!

Hanging out post-costume, Connor is still in the Halloween spirit!

Home sweet home, hanging out with grandma!!

We hope everyone had as much fun this Halloween as we did!!
